One Mississippi school reports 500+ student out with flu symptoms, MDH issues warning
One high school in Mississippi reported over 500 students out with flu like symptoms last Friday with over 400 still absent on Tuesday. according to the school district.
The Clinton school district had 555 students out on Friday and 411 absent today.
This comes as the Mississppi department of health issued a warning about increased instances of the flu in the elderly and children.
From the MDH:
The flu is impacting children ages 4 and under the most, with more hospitalizations in that age group than any other. Nationwide, there have been 11 pediatric influenza deaths so far including one in Mississippi. The most common strain this season is the H1N1.
