Tupelo hires Cliff Little to lead boys’ basketball

Tupelo Public School District announced Wednesday that Cliff Little has been hired as head coach of Tupelo High School’s boys’ basketball team, and that the Board of Trustees approved the hire before posting the announcement on social media, the district said.

The district said Little spent the past 15 years at Biggersville High School, an MHSAA Class 1A program, where his teams won six state championships — four on the boys’ side and two on the girls’ side.

According to the district, Little previously served as head coach at East Webster High School, where he led a boys’ team to a state title in 2008.

The district said Little replaces Robert Green, who stepped down to become an assistant principal at Milam Elementary School in the Tupelo district. The district also said the Golden Wave went 18-8 and reached the second round of the playoffs last season. The program’s most recent state championship was in 2016, the district said.
