Tupelo Police Apprehend Suspect Following Violent Altercation
According to the Tupelo Police Department, on the evening of July 20, 2024, officers responded to a domestic violence call on Erin Street. Upon arrival at approximately 10:40 PM, law enforcement found an adult female victim who reported being strangled by the suspect before managing to escape.
Following the victim’s report, officers located the suspect in close proximity to the scene. The suspect attempted to evade arrest, leading to a brief foot pursuit before he was apprehended.Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Nelson Harrison, a 40-year-old resident of Tupelo, on July 22, 2024. Harrison has been formally charged with Aggravated Domestic Violence.
Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Allen presided over Harrison’s initial hearing on July 22, 2024, where a $2,500 bond was set. The charges against Harrison will be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury for further consideration.
