Congress approves symbolic measure urging Trump to withdraw U.S. forces from Iran

Congress approved a nonbinding measure directing President Donald Trump to remove U.S. armed forces from hostilities with Iran, according to the measure’s text.

The measure does not require the president’s signature and carries no force of law, the text shows.

Lawmakers from both parties said the vote was largely symbolic and reflected bipartisan frustration with the conflict.

Supporters framed the measure as a statement of congressional intent, while critics noted its lack of legal compulsion, lawmakers said.
