U.S. forces carry out defensive strikes in southern Iran, CENTCOM says

U.S. Central Command said Monday that U.S. forces conducted defensive strikes in southern Iran to protect personnel from threats posed by Iranian forces.

CENTCOM said the strikes were intended “to protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces,” and targeted boats attempting to lay mines and missile launch sites, according to Navy Capt. Tim.

The command said the actions came amid discussions to bring the U.S.-Israeli conflict with Tehran to an end.

CENTCOM provided the information in a statement Monday. Further details and independent confirmation were not included in the statement.
