Flávio Bolsonaro flees Brazil for U.S. after runoff loss, reports say

Brazilian Sen. Flávio Bolsonaro has left Brazil for the United States after losing the runoff presidential election, The Hill reported Oct. 27, 2026.

The move came after Brazil’s Supreme Court ordered Bolsonaro to surrender his passports in connection with alleged financial crimes, The Associated Press reported.

The Hill said multiple outlets reported the departure. The State Department did not immediately return The Hill’s request for comment, according to the report.
