Glass artist Paul Stankard dies at 83; work shown in museums worldwide

Paul Stankard, a glass artist whose delicately crafted paperweights were displayed in museums around the world, died on October 6, 2026 at age 83, CBS News reported.

CBS News cited a April 26, 2015 “Sunday Morning” report by Martha Teichner in which she visited Stankard at his New Jersey studio. The program described Stankard as a self-taught paperweight-maker and showed him demonstrating the process of creating tiny, nature-inspired scenes in glass.
