Keane: U.S.-Iran MOU signals shift from military to economic, political goals

Retired Gen. Jack Keane said Sunday that a U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding marks a major shift in the Trump administration’s approach to the Middle East.

“It’s a recognition that there’s a major shift of the administration’s priorities away from military objectives to economic and political objectives,” Keane said, telling hosts John Catsimatidis.

Keane described the move as a change in the administration’s foreign policy ideals in the region. He framed the memorandum as evidence that the Trump administration is placing greater emphasis on nonmilitary tools.
