Passengers return home for hantavirus monitoring after case aboard ship

Passengers were returning to their home countries after spending weeks aboard a ship at the center of a hantavirus outbreak, officials said. One passenger tested positive for the virus, officials said.

Most of the American passengers were headed to Nebraska to be evaluated by health officials, officials said.

Authorities said passengers will undergo monitoring and evaluation upon arrival, but provided few details about the timeline or the passenger who tested positive.

Officials did not immediately release further information about the ship, the number of people affected or potential exposures, they said.
