Saudi Arabia forms Red Sea coalition to protect oil shipments
Saudi Arabia is forming an international coalition to protect Red Sea shipping routes that carry its oil exports from repeated attacks by Yemeni Houthi militias, the Saudi Arabian embassy in the United States said in a statement.
The Saudi Ministry of Defense met with nearly 50 countries in Riyadh to establish a multinational maritime defense coalition, the embassy said.
The embassy said the coalition is intended to safeguard key shipping routes used to transport Saudi oil exports from continued Houthi attacks.
