The comments were made during an interview with host Aaron MacLean on the “School of War” podcast, according to the podcast transcript and audio released by the program.
The remarks came amid reports that the United States is pursuing a potential deal with Iran, a backdrop Cruz referenced in arguing for increased pressure on Tehran, the senator said.
Cruz did not outline how such aid would be delivered or what role the United States should play beyond urging the Trump administration to support Iranians seeking to topple their government, according to the podcast exchange.
