Senate appropriators reach funding deal to avert shutdown

Senators on the Appropriations Committee said Sunday they had agreed to a funding bill that would prevent a government shutdown at the end of September and fund the government through part of December.

An initial procedural vote is scheduled for Monday night, the senators said.

Senate leaders are eyeing passage of the bill before the chamber goes on recess, the senators said.

Details of the measure were not immediately available.
