Taylor Farms expands lettuce recall to 27 states over parasite risk
Taylor Farms has expanded a voluntary recall of iceberg lettuce distributed to 27 states after federal health officials linked the product to a parasite causing severe diarrhea.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that the shredded lettuce, sourced from a supplier in central Mexico, is associated with an outbreak of a parasite that causes explosive diarrhea. The CDC did not specify the number of cases linked to the recall.
The recall originally focused on a smaller region but was broadened as officials traced the source of the illness. Consumers are advised to check their lettuce products and discard any that may be affected.
Taylor Farms has not issued any statements beyond the recall notice. Health officials continue to investigate the outbreak and monitor for additional cases.
