Team USA rallied from a 10½-7½ deficit to beat the International team 17-13 Sunday at Medinah Country Club, securing the Presidents Cup.
According to Fox News (Sept. 27, 2026), U.S. captain Brandt Snedeker credited President Donald Trump for the turnaround, saying, “I told him if we did this, he gets all the credit.” Fox News reported Trump, the event’s honorary chairman, was in attendance and briefly addressed the crowd before play.
Fox News reported the Americans trailed on home soil entering the final session for the first time in the event’s history, then won nine of the 12 singles matches and outscored the Internationals 9½-2½. Presidents Cup rookie Jacob Bridgeman delivered the winning point with a par putt on the 18th green.
Match highlights reported by Fox News included Cameron Young opening the singles with a 3&2 win; Justin Thomas winning 5&3; Scottie Scheffler closing out a 2&1 victory; and Collin Morikawa edging Hideki Matsuyama 1 up on the 18th. Patrick Cantlay holed a 57-foot birdie putt on 16 and finished 2&1 against Adam Scott.
Fox News also noted Tom Kim finished as the tournament’s leading scorer with four points after beating Wyndham Clark, Sungjae Im defeated Sam Burns, and rookie Chris Gotterup went 3-1 for the week. Jackson Koivun and Bridgeman supplied late crucial points for the U.S., and Xander Schauffele and Russell Henley closed out the result.
The outlet reported the victory was the Americans’ 11th straight in the Presidents Cup and their ninth win in nine home editions, improving the team’s overall Presidents Cup record to 14-1-1. Fox News said the U.S. team will head toward the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor in Ireland with questions remaining about its performance in team formats such as foursomes.
