Walmart and Sams Club to close their store locations on Thanksgiving Day this year

Walmart announces they will be closing their stores this year for Thanksgiving Day. This news was released by officials on Tuesday.

The decision was made to allow employees to spend time with their families on the holiday. Sam’s Club stores will also be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

“We know this has been a trying year, and our associates have stepped up. We hope they will enjoy a special Thanksgiving Day at home with their loved ones,” Walmart President and CEO John Furner said. “We are certainly thankful to our people for all of their efforts.”

“We know holiday shopping will be different this year, and we will be managing sales events differently,” Furner added.

Shoppers will want to make sure to plan ahead to buy all of their needed ingredients for Thanksgiving meals prior to the holiday.

There will be no last minute running to Walmart if something has been forgotten. Walmart has not closed its stores on Thanksgiving since the late 1980s. Christmas is the only day of the year that most Walmart locations close.
