The National Weather Service in Memphis said timing shifted for Wednesday’s storms, with some arriving predawn in northeast Arkansas and the main line reaching the Memphis area mid- to late-morning. The agency said a strong EF-2 or greater tornado could not be ruled out, particularly over north Mississippi.

The Russell Mt. Gilead Road bridge over I-20/59 in Meridian will be closed from 7 p.m. Friday, March 20, until 6 a.m. Monday, March 23, for bridge repairs, the Mississippi Department of Transportation said.

Webster County and Choctaw County offices are closed and their staff will operate from the Clay County office until further notice, a notice said. Clients were told to call (662) 494-3843 or contact their casework via email.

The Mississippi Department of Transportation said closures will begin at 9 a.m. March 11 and last about six weeks, affecting Old Highway 57 and Gautier Vancleave Road in Jackson County. Motorists are advised to use the State Route 57 south frontage road and the Gautier Vancleave connector.
