Damaging winds, hail, tornado chance in forecast for weekend
There is a threat for severe weather this weekend according to MEMA and the NWS.
From MEMA:
Severe thunderstorms will be possible Saturday afternoon across a large part of the state. Some of the storms could be severe, mainly across the eastern half of Mississippi. Damaging wind gusts will be the primary hazard, but hail up to the size of quarters and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.
From NWS:
thunderstorms Saturday morning and afternoon over north Mississippi and portions of southwest Tennessee near the Tennessee River. Large hail and damaging winds will primary severe weather threats. Secondary threats include locally heavy rainfall sufficient to produce flash flooding, and weak short-lived tornadoes.
