Early morning chase wrecks police vehicle, suspect still MIA

An early morning chase that originated in Prentiss County and came into Tippah County caused a police vehicle to wreck and the suspect to get away, according to emergency responders reports.

Dry Creek Rescue responded to the report of a one car MVA involving a law enforcement cruiser on County Road 547. The call originated as a pursuit from City of Booneville and spread through Prentiss and into Tippah County. Tippah EMS requested landing zone set up from Dry Creek, but cancelled due to weather conditions. The officer involved in the wreck is reported to be stable at this time. Tippah and Prentiss County law enforcement officials are searching the area for the suspect that ended up in a cornfield and fled on foot. Rescue 7 and Engine 1 returned to service after 5 AM.
