Falkner falls in shootout vs. East Union

Falkner fell in season opening action against 2A East Union Friday night by a score of 33-32. The Eagles 426 yards and 32 points were the most in a losing effort in the state.

The Eagles were led offensively by Lane Elliott, who unofficially had 300+ yards with three touchdowns through the air. His primary receiving targets were TJ Colom, who had the game tying and go ahead touchdowns on electric plays and senior deep threat Chauncey Jackson who went over 100 yards receiving with a touchdown.

Senior running back Elijah Moore had several big runs and some touchdown saving tackles from his safety position.

The Eagles gave up a 4th and 5 fake punt conversion and subsequent touchdown+2-pt conversion all by East Union’s Joel Wilkinson to fall in the contest.

“My Team is tough and we will be ready to go next week,” Elliott said after the contest looking ahead to next weeks Joe Bowl.

The Eagles and Wildcats, who defeated Ashland 43-6 Friday, square off in the 15th Joe Bowl next week.
