Fire departments, Forestry working to contain large wildfire in Tippah County

Multiple fire departments and the MFC have been working on Wednesday to contain wildfires in Alcorn County near the Tippah County line.

The fire is off of highway 2.

From the Alcorn County Fire Service:

Earlier today fire crews from multiple departments in Alcorn county were dispatched to a wildfire on the Tippah/ Alcorn line.

Crews are still on the ground and with assistance from the Mississippi Forestry Commission the fire is believed to be around 90% contained.

We ask that you pray for the safety of the crews working this fire!

This comes after MFC announced a 100+ acre wildfire in Prentiss County last weekend.

Mississippi is facing record temperatures and the rainfall is under the normal amount for this time of year, making conditions for wildfires greater than normal.
