Governor issues special session to fund infrastructure that includes state lottery
Mississippi governor Phil Bryant made the call late Tuesday August 21st to legislators for a special session to be convened Thursday August 23rd. This special session will discuss infrastructure spending of $200 million annually, from funds such as sports betting and a state lottery.
According to governor Bryant:
I have issued the call for the special session of the Mississippi Legislature that begins on Thursday. Using revenue generated by internet sales taxes, sports betting, electric and hybrid vehicle user fees and a state lottery, the Mississippi Infrastructure Modernization Act will provide more than $200 million annually to meet Mississippi’s infrastructure needs.
