Human Remains Found in Field near Walnut
On Sunday, October 22, human remains were unearthed in a field northeast of Walnut, as reported by the Tippah County Sheriff’s Department. The discovery was made when an individual, mowing a pasture, alerted the authorities around 4 p.m. that they had come across what appeared to be human remains.
Deputies swiftly responded to the scene, confirming the discovery. An investigation was promptly initiated, continuing through the following day with the assistance of search and rescue officials.
The location of the find was identified as a field off County Road 127, north of Hwy 72, and to the northeast of Walnut. To determine the duration the remains had remained undiscovered, they will be sent to a forensics laboratory for analysis. As of now, the identity of the deceased remains unconfirmed, pending verification from the forensics laboratory.
