Medical marijuana to be on 2020 election ballot in Mississippi
Medical marijuana will be on 2020 election ballot in Mississippi.
From the group Mississippians for compassionate care:
We are beyond excited to share that the Secretary of State has officially qualified Ballot Initiative 65 to be on the November 2020 ballot! Patients in Mississippi who suffer from qualifying debilitating conditions (cancer, epilepsy, and Parkinson’s disease to name a few) are a step closer to having access to a treatment option that patients in 34 other states are receiving relief from!
Our Director of Field Outreach (pictured) helped deliver these boxes that were filled with 105,686 certified signatures from Mississippi-registered voters to the Secretary of State in September. Since September, the Secretary of State has been in the process of confirming that the requirements have been met.
Mississippi state law requires a minimum of 86,185 certified signatures from Mississippi-registered voters for an initiative measure to be placed on the ballot (with at least 17,237 certified signatures from each of the five congressional districts as they existed in the year 2000). We exceeded the requirement with overwhelming numbers in each of the districts totaling more than 105,000 certified signatures from Mississippi voters!
