Power out at dangerous intersection in Tippah County as tornado watch issued

Power is out and trees are down in Tippah county as a severe thunderstorm warning and tornado watch has been issued.

Power is out at the intersection of US-72 & MS-15. Please treat this intersection as a four-way stop until Tippah Electric Power Association has power restored.

  • Until 700 AM CST.
  • At 609 AM CST, a severe thunderstorm was located 9 miles north of
    Ripley, moving northeast at 40 mph.

HAZARD…70 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to
mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1000 AM CST for northeastern
Mississippi…and western Tennessee.
