Ripley man begins walk across state to raise money for Good Samaritan
Tippah county resident Sammy Jason Ballard begun his trek across Mississippi today. He is doing so to raise funds for he Tippah County Good Samaritan center.
His venture, named Walkin the Sipp to Feed the Tipp, has the following stated goal:
Sammy Ballard is going to walk across the state of Mississippi down Highway 78 starting at the Mississippi and Tennessee state line to the Mississippi and Alabama state line. Sammy is doing this walk as a way to fundraise for the Tippah County Good Samaritans Center. A 100% of the profits will go to the Tippah County Good Samaritan Center. The Tippah County Good Samaritan Center has two locations one in Ripley serving South Tippah And the other location in Walnut Serving North Tippah. Tippah County Good Samaritan Center is a supplemental food source for those that meet certain criteria. The centers mission is to counsel, meet physical, emotional, spiritual, and social needs for the people of Tippah County Mississippi. Sammy will begin his walk 10/19/2018. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he prepares for this 119 mile hike.
According to event coordinator Diane Holman:
“He started his hike today. We still have T-shirts and decals available for sale, as well as taking pledges per mile and donations for those that would like to support the fundraising efforts. All profits go to the Tippah County Good Samaritan Center”
