Risk for severe storms for the weekend
The national weather service and the Storm Prediction Center are in agreement: there is a chance for strong to severe storms to develop over the weekend.
The NWS is giving it a 3 out of 5 probability while the SPC limits it to a 15% chance of severe weather.
From the SPC:
Given the strength of this system, and the accompanying/strong kinematic field, risk for at least isolated severe storms remains evident -- including potential for damaging winds and some tornado risk. However, a primary limiting factor appears likely to be limited CAPE (in part due to the widespread convective development).
As such, will maintain only 15% risk at this time, though strength of this system and accompanying deep-layer wind field warrants attention in future outlooks.
