Special Weather Statement Issued for Tippah County

The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued a special weather statement for Ripley in Tippah County that follows along with calls for heavy precipitation, according to a release issued Friday afternoon. 

According to the NWS:

.Light Wintry Mix Possible across portions of the Midsouththis Weekend...A storm system developing over south Texas will start to tracknortheast tonight. This storm will spread precipitation across theMid-south tonight. Some of the precipitation is expected to be amix of rain...sleet and snow over portions of northeast Arkansas and the Missouri bootheel with little accumulation expected. Some slick roads are possible overnight...especially on bridges andoverpasses.

A better threat for accumulations is expected tomorrow night intoSunday as colder air slides south behind the departing storm.Light sleet...snow and freezing rain could provide for hazardous travel as far south as the I-40 corridor. Any accumulations will be less than 1 inch.Please stay tuned for future forecast changes and updates as thisstorm system continues to develop.
