Tippah County hospital in Ripley is set to close its senior care unit once its last current remaining patients are discharged according to employees of the hospital briefed on the matter.
This development comes after a board vote on the fate of the senior care unit. The majority of the employees of that part of the hospital will be placed in different parts of the hospital.
The senior care unit has had low intake numbers, hastening the decision to close it. This decision will not affect the nursing home segment of the hospital.
The employees of that division have been informed this week of the hospital board’s decision. There are two patients currently being treated in the senior care unit.
Calls to Tippah County hospital for comment were not returned.
