New Mississippi laws will affect alcohol possession, prison population, more

Several new laws are set to hit the books in Mississippi on July 1st, covering everything from “fast lane” drivers to distilleries.

House Bill 387 stipulates that courts will not be able to lock up people who fail to pay fines that they cannot afford.

House Bill 192 says you can carry unopened alcoholic beverages through dry counties without penalty.

Senate Bill 2934 imposes strict penalties for dogfighting.

House Bill 1202  requires ALL emergency vehicles to use their flashing lights when going 30 miles over the speed limit.

House Bill 80 requires all drivers to use the left lane for passing only on a four lane highway.
