Multiple cases of fatal CWD found in deer North of Tippah County

Multiple cases of the fatal neurological disease CWD (Chronic Wasting Disease) have been confirmed to the North of Tippah county according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

The deer were harvested in Hardeman County, just to the North of Tippah County. This follows along with deer that have been reported with CWD all over North Mississippi, inlcuding directly to the south of Tippah County.

CWD is a highly contagious, fatal prion, or abnormal protein, that affects cervids such as white-tailed deer, elk, and mule deer.

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife has held several meetings on CWD in North MS this year. If you harvest a deer you fear is infected, contact them immediately.
