State Auditor Shad White Cuts Office Funding, Says It Saved $996,506
State Auditor Shad White said he reduced his office’s allocation from the state general fund for fiscal 2026 and left it unchanged for fiscal 2027, a move his office said saved the fund $996,506.
White said the change reflects an effort to maximize efficiency in the use of taxpayer dollars, his office said.
The auditor’s office said the state general fund is sourced from state taxes such as income tax and retail sales taxes.
The office said the allocation was lowered from fiscal 2025 to fiscal 2026 and remained the same for fiscal 2027, resulting in the reported savings.
