Falkner Heritage to hold ribbon cutting for completion of Veterans Memorial and other projects

On Friday August 23rd, the Falkner Mississippi Heritage Museum committee will be holding a ribbon cutting. Three years ago, a small group of people formed with the interest of finding our more about their heritage. Soon, the idea of establishing a museum evolved.

This group of people are passionate about keeping the history of Falkner and its people’s heritage alive. The ribbon cutting is being held to commemorate the progress they have made over the past 3 years, which includes their newly constructed Grove Gazebo. They will be dedicating a flag pole, the war memorial, the old Cooper Hill School House, as well as the Grove Gazebo. This dedication event will give members of the community a chance to view with the Museum committee has worked so hard for.

“We welcome you to this celebration. Bring your lawn chairs and visit the grounds where our Falkner history began. Your generous donations and gifts have made this possible,” states one committee member. They plan to add even more to the location, which will include bringing over the donated “Labrearre Home”, setting up park benches and lamps, a large pavilion, as well as a playground.

The ribbon cutting event will be held August 23rd at 10 AM in the park in Falkner. The committee also invites community members to attend their monthly meetings, held at 6 PM on the second Tuesday of the month at Falkner City Hall.
