A regional food blog made a stop at a Tippah County restaurant recently and gave the local establishment glowing remarks.
The Backroads and Burgers blog made the stop at Tommy and Amy Powers Lost Bayou Food company and had nothing but glowing remarks.

If you were to have told me I would find the best Cajun food I’ve ever had in Blue Mountain, Mississippi with a population a little over 300 I would have laughed at you. But, yesterday, I sat down at the Lost Bayou Food Company and found just that. I started out with crawfish dip with fresh Gambino bread, straight from New Orleans. The flavors and smokiness of the dip coupled with that New Orleans bread was one of the most delicious appetizers I’ve ever had. It could have been a full meal.
In my opinion, you can really check the authenticity of a restaurant by their muffuletta. Paired with fried okra and seafood gumbo, my expectations were high and they were met easily. The muffuletta was also served on Gambino bread with the perfect amount of meats and olive salad. The bread was soft enough that you could truly enjoy all the flavors in one bite.
The seafood gumbo tasted as if I was being served in the French Quarter, not 400 miles away on the Tennessee State Line. The roux was the perfect color with a touch of salt that went a long way. It was simply perfect!!
I have had the privilege of eating Cajun food throughout Louisiana and I have yet to find a place that serves it quite like Lost Bayou Food Company in Blue Mountain. Tommy and Amy Powers are doing everything right at their restaurant and it definitely helps that Tommy is a Louisiana native. If you’re ever even an hour from Blue Mountain or Ripley, this is absolute must stop!
