Flag Commission chooses design that will go on ballots to be voted on to be new state flag of Mississippi

The Flag Commission met Wednesdaty and chose the design that will go on ballots to be voted on to be new state flag of Mississippi in an event that was live streamed by the Mississippi Department of Archives and History.

The Commission to redesign the Mississippi State Flag met for its final time to determine which design will be on the ballot and the choice has been made.

The Commission decided on the New Magnolia Flag.

The majority of the Wednesday meeting was spent putting forth changes to the New Magnolia flag.

The commission went over changes that were made to the magnolia flag in order to make the design elements stand out more on smaller flag. Some of the changes included changing the yellow bar color, changing the font of “In God We Trust” and centering the magnolia more.

The vote was 8-1 in favor of the Magnolia Flag.
