The Kossuth National Champion Cheer Team was honored at Northeast Mississippi Community College with a surprise shopping spree and recognition during a basketball game.

Northeast Mississippi Community College is recruiting graduating high school seniors and current students to fill lifeguard positions. Applicants must be certified or willing to earn certification, the college said.

Northeast Mississippi Community College said applications are open for its Honors Institute, with a March 15 deadline. The college said scholarships, an iPad and covered course fees are available.

Guaranty Bank’s Northeast regional branch managers held a meeting on campus and later met with President Ford and business technology instructors to discuss preparing students for the workforce, the school said.

Organizers said the women’s game tips off at 5:30 p.m. and the men’s at 7:30 p.m.; pizza and pom poms will be available while supplies last.

Phi Theta Kappa says members are eligible for hundreds of scholarships and tools to assist transfers, and two Mississippi universities list PTK awards on their websites.

Northeast Mississippi Community College said its softball team rose from unranked in the NJCAA preseason poll to No. 14 in the NJCAA’s first regular-season poll. The Tigers will host doubleheaders Friday and Saturday at The Plex.

Northeast Mississippi Community College is accepting early applications for its Associate Degree Nursing program, the college said. Eligible current and dual-enrolled students must apply by March 6.
