The college said a social media post recalled student life in 2005 and encouraged prospective students to apply at NEMCC.edu.

Organizers said Meet the Tigers will be held Aug. 18 at 5:30 p.m. at Tiger Stadium. They said the event will introduce athletes preparing for the upcoming season and celebrate school traditions.

Northeast said it will partner with the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Office and the Booneville Police Department for active-shooter training July 21 and July 22. The school warned of an increased law enforcement presence and said there is no threat to campus.

Haleigh Leach said affordability brought her to Northeast, and that campus involvement and Phi Theta Kappa scholarships helped her continue her education, Leach said.

Kamiron Harris of Baldwyn said her advisor and instructors guided her through Northeast Mississippi Community College’s practical nursing program, helping her gain experience and graduate ready for a nursing career, the college said.

Northeast said it has published a simple guide to help students understand their college bills, including charges, scholarships and the amount due. The college said staff members are available to assist students throughout the billing process.

Northeast is collecting personal testimonials, saying stories about careers, friendships and confidence could help prospective students and their families.

The Mississippi Community College System is introducing the Jobs Promise Performance Program to prepare thousands of workers annually for in-demand careers and tie funding to results.

Tracey Barron, a Practical Nursing Program instructor at Northeast Community College, received the Northeast Way Award for her dedication to students and community impact.
