The Hardeman County Sheriff’s Office made 81 arrests and took 61 criminal incident reports between Aug. 15 and Sept. 14, 2026, according to the agency’s latest monthly arrest and criminal report. The report, released this week, offers a snapshot of law enforcement activity across Hardeman County, Tenn., which includes the town of Middleton just north of the Mississippi state line near Walnut.
Theft and burglary topped the list of incident types during the 31-day reporting period, and the report also counted one murder.

The 61 criminal incident reports logged by the sheriff’s office break down as follows:

Assaults: 10
Traffic offenses: 7
Harassment, threats or intimidation: 7
Sex offenses: 3
Mental health consumer calls: 2

Murder: 1
Miscellaneous: 13
The miscellaneous category covered a range of calls, including disturbances, violations of protection orders, juvenile and elder abuse, trespassing, felony evading and animal-related complaints.
Property Crime Leads the List
Theft and burglary cases made up roughly one in four of the incident reports taken during the period, more than any other single category. Assaults followed with 10 reports. Together, property crimes and assaults accounted for 25 of the 61 incident reports.
The report does not identify the people arrested or detail individual cases, including the homicide, in the summary figures. An arrest reflects a charge only; anyone arrested is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
