Capitol Police open applications for 2026 Spring Citizens Academy
Capitol Police said applications are open for the 2026 Spring Citizens Academy for residents of the Capitol Complex Improvement District (CCID). The academy will meet from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, April 20-28, 2026, with an additional session on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon, the agency said.
Applications are available at dps.ms.gov, and the deadline to apply is April 15, 2026, Capitol Police said.
Capitol Police said the seven-day course gives participants direct engagement with law enforcement and an inside look at officers’ duties. The agency said the program will include driver education and simulation activities, a K-9 demonstration, forensic crime scene investigation and a ride-along with a Capitol Police officer.
Capitol Police said the academy also will provide an overview of all aspects of Capitol Police operations, including the CCID court and its jurisdiction, and encouraged interested residents to apply by the April 15 deadline.
