U.S. military says 4 ‘narco-terrorists’ killed in 50th Eastern Pacific boat strike

The U.S. military carried out its 50th lethal strike against an alleged drug-trafficking boat Tuesday in the Eastern Pacific, killing four people the U.S. Southern Command called “narco-terrorists,” Southcom said.

Southcom said the vessel was operated by a designated terrorist organization, was transiting along known narco-trafficking routes and was engaged in narco-trafficking operations. The command described the individuals as “narco-terrorists.”

Southcom did not identify the terrorist group it said operated the vessel. The command did not immediately provide other details, including the exact location of the strike or whether there were any U.S. personnel involved in the operation.

Southcom characterized the strike as another measure in U.S. efforts to disrupt maritime drug trafficking in the region, saying it was the military’s 50th lethal strike against an alleged drug-trafficking vessel, according to the statement.
