Officials urge sober rides for National Beer Day

Public safety officials urged people celebrating National Beer Day to arrange sober rides before drinking and to avoid driving impaired.

Officials said impaired driving remains a preventable cause of death and urged celebrants to plan ahead so festivities do not end in tragedy.

Authorities recommended designating a sober driver, using public transportation or ride-hailing services, or staying overnight where it is safe to do so, officials said.

Organizers and safety advocates urged responsible celebration and reminded the public that planning a safe way home is part of preventing needless deaths, officials added.
