A posted notice asked residents in Cash, Ark., Tishomingo, Miss., and other highlighted red areas to report wind, hail or flooding damage from storms the previous day, the notice said.
The notice requested that reports include a photo along with an approximate location, such as the nearest intersection, and the time the damage was observed, if available.
The notice did not include instructions on how to submit reports or identify who was collecting the information.
The notice described the affected zones only as the “highlighted red areas” and did not provide additional details about the extent of damage.
