At the 2026-27 commissioning ceremony, organizers said each student received a mustard seed meant to symbolize faith, growth and potential.
Organizers told attendees the tiny seed was chosen to represent how small beginnings can lead to significant outcomes. They said the seed symbolized the seeds of knowledge, character and relationships planted during the year that they expect will flourish over time.
Officials said the gesture was also intended as a reminder that students do not have to have everything figured out on day one. They said great accomplishments are built through daily choices, steady perseverance and a willingness to trust the process.
Organizers said the seed represented a calling to serve and impact others. They urged students to develop their gifts, uplift their communities and use their leadership to leave a positive mark as the academic year begins.
