4-star Mississippi recruit Ben’Jarvius Shumaker flips back to Ole Miss after brief Colorado commitment

Ben’Jarvius Shumaker announced on X on Wednesday that he has reaffirmed his commitment to Ole Miss after briefly flipping to Colorado earlier this week.

In a post on X, Shumaker apologized for the confusion and said the process had “reaffirmed for me that Ole Miss is where I am meant to be.” He wrote that he believes in the program’s vision, the relationships his family has built in Oxford and the opportunity Ole Miss offers, according to his X account.

Shumaker initially committed to Ole Miss in March and announced on Monday that he was shutting down his recruitment, according to his X account. On Tuesday he posted that he had flipped his commitment to Colorado and coach Deion Sanders, then a few hours later said he had returned to Ole Miss and that his decision was final, according to his social media posts.

Per the 247Sports composite rankings, Shumaker is the No. 2 prospect in Mississippi, No. 70 nationally and the No. 7 player at his position in the country.

Shumaker’s return to Ole Miss followed the Rebels’ commitment from four-star Louisville defensive lineman Mitchell Turner, who chose Ole Miss over Texas, Alabama and LSU, according to a Rivals report by Hayes Fawcett. Ole Miss coach Pete Golding and defensive line coach Randall Joyner have been building the program’s incoming class, the staff said in recruiting announcements.
