Additional case of Chronic Wasting Disease found in Benton County
An additional case of Chronic Wasting Disease was confirmed in a deer in Benton County recently according to the MDWFP.
It was the 19th such case on Mississippi this season and the 7th such case in Benton County, most in the state along with Marshall County.
The spread of the disease has led to legislation barring supplemental feeding and the transportation of carcasses to outside zone boundaries to limit the spread of the disease.
CWD is a fatal neurological disease that affects deer, elk and moose.
