Armed and dangerous suspects at large after fatal shooting with large amount of drugs and cash

A “large amount” of drugs and cash were found at the crime scene of a fatal shooting in Lee County yesterday.

From the Lee County Sheriff:

On December 22, 2021, around 2pm, someone called 911 to report a shooting on CR 746 Plantersville. Deputies and Investigators arrived at the scene along with a NMMC Ambulance service.

While on the scene a male subject was found in the residence deceased. The male subject was found to have numerous gunshot wounds. The Lee County Deputy Coroner pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

The crime scene was processed by Criminal and Narcotic Investigators from the Lee County Sheriff Department and the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit.

Several pieces of evidence, which included weapons, large amounts of marijuana, and large amounts of cash were seized from the residence.

During the investigation, Investigators were given information that a white Dodge Charger, occupied by two male subjects (one white and one biracial) was at the scene at the time of the incident. The male subjects were described to be in their 20’s. Information was also given that the white Dodge Charger had a flashing type light on the dash.

The deceased male subject found at the scene has been identified as Justin Mayfield, age 39, of the CR 746 Plantersville residence.

The Investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact 911, the Lee County Sheriff’s Department at 662-432-2622, or Crime Stoppers.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Department can confirm that no one with the Sheriff’s Department drives a white dodge charger with flashing lights. We will continue to update the public as soon as more information is available
