The Firefighters and the Loco Beach Coconuts arrived at Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport Thursday ahead of Banana Ball games Sept. 25 and 26 at Keesler Federal Park, WXXV News 25 reported.
WXXV said fans and community members gathered at the airport for a welcome gate party as the teams arrived.
Coastal Mississippi Director of Communications and Engagement Pattye Meagher told WXXV the weekend will have a “tremendous economic impact” on the region, saying visitors are expected to stay in hotels, dine in local restaurants and visit area attractions.
Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport Director of Marketing Chaille Munn told WXXV the terminal featured yellow baseballs and balloon arches for the teams and said the airport was “thrilled to welcome these teams to the Coast in such a fanatic way.”
The Firefighters and Loco Beach Coconuts will face off Sept. 25 and 26 at Keesler Federal Park, WXXV reported.
