Booneville Man Sentenced to 15 Years for Methamphetamine Trafficking
BOONEVILLE — A 32-year-old Booneville man will serve 15 years in prison for trafficking methamphetamine after being sentenced Thursday in the Circuit Court of Prentiss County.
Zane Miller entered guilty pleas to trafficking methamphetamine. Circuit Judge John R. White imposed the 15-year sentence in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, according to a press release from First Circuit District Attorney Jason D. Herring.
Miller faced multiple drug charges in Alcorn and Prentiss counties, including trafficking and aggravated trafficking of methamphetamine and possession of fentanyl with intent to sell.
Under Mississippi law, a defendant convicted of trafficking narcotics is not eligible for parole or any other form of early release, meaning Miller will serve the full 15-year sentence.
Judge White also sentenced Miller to an additional 25 years, suspended on the condition that Miller abides by the law following his release. Upon release, Miller must complete five years of post-release supervision with the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
Miller’s charges resulted from investigations by the Booneville Police Department and the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department, acting as part of the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit, as well as the Alcorn County Sheriff’s Department.
Assistant District Attorney Kyle Robbins prosecuted the cases on behalf of the State of Mississippi.
