Extreme heat warning continues through Monday in Columbus

An Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect through Monday at 8 p.m. for Columbus and surrounding areas, WCBI reported.

WCBI said highs are expected to be near 100 degrees on Monday with heat index values approaching 110 degrees. Residents were urged to take precautions and stay hydrated.

Conditions overnight are forecast to be mostly clear, with lows only dropping into the upper 70s, WCBI said.

Isolated storms are possible Monday, mainly north of Highway 82, as a slow-moving front moves in from West Tennessee, WCBI reported.

Rain chances return later in the week. WCBI said storms will remain isolated early, but better chances are expected Thursday and Friday as the high pressure that has locked in the heat begins to break down.
