FEMA Awards $3.6 Million to Tippah Electric Power Association for Winter Storm Recovery
RIPLEY, Miss. — The Tippah Electric Power Association (TEPA) is receiving $3.6 million in federal disaster funding from FEMA for recovery work tied to the January 2026 winter storm.
The grant, announced Tuesday by FEMA Region 4, will fund a fiber distribution system, cut and toss operations, and repairs to utility poles and transformers damaged during the storm.
The TEPA award is the largest single project in a $8.3 million package FEMA is awarding to Mississippi — 14 projects from the January 2026 winter storm and one project from a 2017 severe storm — aimed at accelerating disaster recovery and building resilience in communities across the state.
Other Mississippi projects
Through the Public Assistance program, FEMA provides federal reimbursement to communities after a disaster for debris removal, emergency protective measures, and repair or rebuilding of damaged critical infrastructure. Other grants announced Tuesday include:
- $766,000 to the City of Grenada for debris removal
- $746,000 to Yalobusha County for debris removal
- $524,000 to the City of Belzoni for debris removal
- $481,000 to the City of Hattiesburg for repair and replacement of lighting, signage, trash cans and athletic fields damaged by severe storms, tornadoes and straight-line winds
- $407,000 to Grenada County for management of Public Assistance grants
The Mississippi funding is part of more than $781 million FEMA announced for 493 projects nationwide.
