ICE detainees in Mississippi report overcrowding and unsanitary conditions

Amid a surge in arrests by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, detainees at the Adams County Correctional Center in Natchez report overcrowding and deteriorating conditions. Several inmates have described sleeping on makeshift beds on the floor as the facility’s population increases.

According to detainees, the facility has recently begun placing three people in cells designed for two. The cells are approximately 8 by 10 feet and include beds, a toilet, a sink, and storage shelves. Detainees say these conditions are unsanitary and uncomfortable.
